Want To Make A Fabric Card?

I made one for Father's Day.  I know Father's Day was over a month ago, but I want to give you an ideal of how to make a card for any special day.

I found some fabric with a theme I knew my husband (Mike) liked. This is what I picked.

I cut out a piece of fabric 4" x 6"  (the design can be either way and you can make it any size you want).  Layer it with backing fabric, batting, and the theme fabric - all the same size.

Do some free motion quilting around the designs and on the edges.  Then free motion quilt the words you want to use. That is all there is to it.  It really makes a special card for someone.

Here is a picture of the one I made.

He first put it on his desk but now it is on the wall in front of the desk.

(Heather thanks for the beautiful coaster!)

Where Do We Go In The Summertime?

Why the beach of course.  We went for a long weekend to Carolina Beach.  This was the view from our room.

And this is what we do on the beach.

Don't you just love it!  We had a wonderful time, just the two of us.

Our family is going to the beach in a couple of weeks, cannot wait!

Talking about the beach....

I made this wall hanging for my daughter-in-law, Heather, who loves the beach.

See the beach umbrella, lifesaver, and boat?

It is a free pattern from allpeoplequilt on their Instagram page.

You have to follow their page to get the pattern.  The pattern is horizontal but I made mine vertical.

Christmas in July

I recreated a old work of art. A much loved quilter passed away many years ago. Her husband save all of her quilting, finished and not. This was one of the items left unfinished. All the piecing was done but it was not quilted, it was a table runner. There were many stains on it that would not come out so I took it apart and made two wall hangings. Sorry I forgot the before picture.

I was able to reuse a lot of the fabric, the red border on the bottom one and the backing for both. The piecing is so beautiful that I had to save it.

Gift For My Daughter

I love to quilt for others!

I made this wall hanging for my daughter who is a professional photographer.  Her blog is:  http://www.amandacastlephotography.com/

The pattern is a free pattern for a sew along awhile ago.  Here is the pdf for the pattern.  It is part of the backing pattern for the whole quilt.  http://www.fatquartershop.com/media/blog/Snapshots/14-Snapshots-Backing.pdf

Quilting North Carolina

I love to quilt and thought I should make something to show where I live.  I just looked for the state shape through clip art and the letters were created with Word.

Just make them the size you want.  Both are quilted, the green one with straight line quilting and the blue one I did some free motion quilting around the letters and outline of the state.

Such fun!  The green one was given as a gift

and the blue one my husband claimed (lucky guy).
